Voice mode in ChatGPT and Claude can reach your email and calendar mid-conversation. The admin that used to wait for a desk gets done between jobs.

Five minutes between jobs. Engine running, phone in the cupholder. That used to be dead time. Now it is when the email to Dave goes out and tomorrow’s 9 a.m. gets moved to 11.
The trick is not a new app. It is the voice mode already sitting inside ChatGPT or Claude. Say what you would tell a coworker, out loud, and it does the rest.
What changed this summer
- OpenAI’s July 2026 voice update holds a full back-and-forth conversation you can interrupt naturally, and OpenAI says more than 150 million people already use ChatGPT’s voice and dictation features.
- Anthropic’s July 2026 update to Claude’s voice mode lets it reach connected tools mid-conversation, including Gmail and Google Calendar, so drafting an email or moving a meeting takes a sentence, not a keyboard.
There is a reason talking beats typing. A Stanford, Baidu and University of Washington study found speech recognition on a phone is three times faster than typing, with a 20 percent lower error rate.
